Sandbach Clean Team

The next litter pick is our Christmas Event on Saturday 17th December, starting from The Cobbles (by the entrance to St. Mary’s Church Hall). We will be joined by representatives from the local Youth Organizations (many thanks to PCSO Spike Elliot for help with this) and have decided to adopt a Christmas theme. So everyone is invited to wear something to mark the festive season, such as a Santa Hat or clip-on Reindeer Antlers (all optional, of course). Afterwards, there will be free mince pies for all volunteers, and if people are so inclined, we will go to a local cafe or pub for a group coffee or other cheering drink.

If possible, full bags should be put on the corner of Scotch Common by the litter bin opposite the Masonic Lodge. However, if you stack them in other places, such as at the bottom of the Lower Waitrose car park, please let Keith know on 07913 109048.

Sandbach Clean Team is an organisation set up by local people for local people to allow them to accept and take responsibility for the cleanliness of their local area.

In July 2015 the team won the national Community Award from the Chartered Institute of Waste Management, praising in particular our focus on involving wide sections of the community including youth groups.

Our aims are to:

  • Make Sandbach and the adjacent Parishes as litter free as possible
  • Encourage people to take responsibility for their environment
  • Inform the local residents of the work of Sandbach Clean Team
  • Support the setting up of other Local Clean Teams
  • Work with young people to develop their awareness of litter and its problems
  • Develop links to other Clean Teams and environmental projects
  • Liaise closely with local government and other agencies
