Sandbach Clean Team

Following our summer break in August, the next monthly litter pick is on Saturday 17th September  starting from the Council Garage on Scotch Common (next to Pisces Fish Bar).

If possible, full bags should be put on the corner of Scotch Common by the litter bin opposite the Masonic Lodge. However, if you stack them in other places, such as at the bottom of the Lower Waitrose car park, please let Keith know on 07913 109048.

Please help Sandbach Clean Team win some funding from Skipton Building Society. We have beaten hundreds of other groups to make it onto the short list and now the final choice is made by members of the public voting for the group of their choice. You can help win the funding by getting as many people as possible to vote for Sandbach Clean Team on the Skipton Building Society website. The process of voting is summarized below:

1.       Put in your browser or Google Skipton Building Society Grassroots Giving Initiative

2.       Click on “successful shortlisted groups”

3.       Click on North West on the map

4.       Select number 76 – Sandbach Clean Team – from the list of entries

5.       At the bottom of the page, put in your email address and click on “Vote now”

Please encourage family and friends to do the same, and feel free to spread the word as widely as you can. Voting closes on Oct. 14th.

Sandbach Clean Team is an organisation set up by local people for local people to allow them to accept and take responsibility for the cleanliness of their local area.

In July 2015 the team won the national Community Award from the Chartered Institute of Waste Management, praising in particular our focus on involving wide sections of the community including youth groups.

Our aims are to:

  • Make Sandbach and the adjacent Parishes as litter free as possible
  • Encourage people to take responsibility for their environment
  • Inform the local residents of the work of Sandbach Clean Team
  • Support the setting up of other Local Clean Teams
  • Work with young people to develop their awareness of litter and its problems
  • Develop links to other Clean Teams and environmental projects
  • Liaise closely with local government and other agencies
